The healthcare field of health and wellness coaching is relatively new, arising out of need, just like all other medical practices. Health and wellness coaching is a client-centered approach where the client determines their goals, use self-discovery or active learning processes to change behaviors and increase accountability. The coach-client relationship is fundamental in providing the needed one-on-one support that is often not available directly from their doctor. Health Coaches are also trained to work directly with doctors, Functional Medicine providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best care for the client.
Wellness coaches do not diagnose, clinically advise or take the place of doctors, therapists and other healthcare professionals. We assist the clients in achieving their goals at the pace that they choose. Collaborative support and a safe space for self-discovery helps the client to generate their own solutions and strengthen their intrinsic motivation which is key to lifelong change.
